The spoils of war
Well, I was warned, and it happened already. My MP3 player was stolen last night. Someone was rifling through all my papers and ended up stealing a bunch of stuff from the hostel last night. Three of the people in my room had cameras and MP3 players stolen. Luckily, my camera was still there, so I imagine that whoever it was missed seeing it there. I am actually happy that I still have my camera, because that would have been a bigger loss for at this point in my trip. Still, my MP3 player is gone, and I am bummed about that. The hostel owners are looking through the security tape and said that they had a picture of one guy on there leaving with a bag of stuff. The police were by the hostel last night also to take a report. I was out, and apparently someone either left the door to my room open or used someone else´s key.
The past few days have been good. I went to a live music venue in a garage and watched some really amazing stuff there. There were two bands - a Jethro Tull cover band and a Rolling Stones cover band, although we left as a group after the first one. Also, there was a really amazing fire performance.with a woman twirling fire and stuff. It was great.
I also have more tours booked now for the rest of my time. I am going to go to Colca Canyon - the second deepest canyon in the world, and also site of the condor, the world´s largest bird of prey. I think I may also take in some sand boarding and have a tour of Lake Titicaca. Basically,. I am wondering if I should stay longer in Peru to try and delay my arrival in Brazil so that I can make Carnival, or whether or not I should just avoid Carnival all together... since it is very costly at that time of year. Hostels run up to 70 or 80 dollars a night...
I should get going and let someone else get onto the computer here at the hostel.
